Oh so different! Pleasant weather, a dry pitch and a hard earned
victory for the Boot & Shoe. In a gane dominated by the Boot we saw some
excellent passing football and some glorious goals. The game was marred by
a Betley sending-off after 11 minutes. The player concerned sythed down
Lee Heath (Beefy) and the used threatening behaviour so was instantly
dismissed by referee Steve Brookes. The first goal was reminiscent of
Maradonna as Mark Charlesworth appeared to perform his 'Hand of God'
routine to force the ball over the line (fortunately not spotted by the
Ref'). Betley's equaliser was from one of the many 'Exocet' long throw
in's delivered by their full back Danny. Caught by surprise the Boot let
in a sloppy tap-in. From the score of 1 - 1 the Boot dominated
proceedings. Icing on the cake was then two stunning goals to secure victory. A
vintage bullet header from a corner by Graham Harrison (didn't think he
could still junp that high). This was followed by a 30 yard piledriver
by 'Beefy'. Great to win and all round congratulations to all 14
players who took part for the Boot. This gives a real confidence boost for
next Sunday's Presidents Cup quarter final game against the Flying Lady.
