Another frustrating morning for the Boot & Shoe boys. Once
again a two
nil lead was squandered. In fairness to the Corinthians they never gave
up and worked hard to level the scores at two each by half-time.
Scorers for the Boot were Mark Charlesworth (Charlie) a tap in from the six
yard area and a penalty from 'cool as a cucumber' Graham Harrison.
During the second-half the weather conditions (blowing a gale to put it
mildly) and heavy underfoot conditions began to take their toll. Both sides
tired and struggled to play good football (oh for a good pitch!!!!)As
the game progressed Chris Lines (Lino) fed a through ball to Craig
Parker (Parker) and he cooly slotted the ball past the advancing keeper.
Thought we'd won!!!!! The referee then chose to have an unwanted say in
the result. he awarded Corinthians a corner when it was clearly a goal
kick for the Boot. From this corner and with about five minutes to go
Corinthians plundered an equaliser. All very disappointing as this was
another game that we deserved to win but 'shot ourselves in the foot'. Not
to worry though a win at Betley next week will take us to the very
respectable thirty point mark. One thing's for sure the food in the Boot
certainly tasted good after we had all recovered from frostbite and the
disappointment of not winning.
