THE BOOT CLIP THE LADIES WINGS
BOOT & SHOE 6 FLYING LADY 2
A stunning performance by the Boot & Shoe on a day heavily affected by
weather conditions (blowing a gale) and the usual bumpy pitch at Brine
Leas. A back to basics Boot team battled hard against the wind first
half and secured a 1 - 1 scoreline at half time. It was then time to turn
it on and four goals were rattled in to make it 5 - 1 for the Boot. The
referee got it wrong for Flying Lady's second goal. Their player kicked
Mr reliable Graham Harrison and by some means conned the referee into
giving them a penalty. They scored but the Boot put the game beyond all
doubt with a late goal to make the score 6 - 2. Excellent performances
from all 14 players who took part (three substitutes used) but this was
undoubtedly a 'Team Performance' in which the Boot chose to play 'top
drawer' football. The pass and move technique provided a Hat Trick for
Mark Charlesworth (Charlie) which included a candidate for goal of the
season. This was a slick four pass move without the Flying Lady players
getting a touch. Charlie slid in the final pass at the far post. Indeed
glorious football!! Chris Lines (Lino) chipped in with a brace of goals
and had chances to get his own Hat Trick. Matthew Scanlan (Wag) scored
the other with a clinical finish, shooting in at the near post when one
on one with the keeper. A great Quarter-Final victory and bring on
Bentley in the Semi-Final in two weeks time. ALL SUPPORT IS WELCOMED!
Turning point - Nicky's arrival at half time.
Line of the day from Clive Heathcock (Cocker) - Charlie can have the
match ball for his Hat Trick as long as he pays for it.
