BOOT GO DOWN TO LATE PENALTY - AGAINST 'TOP OF THE
TABLE' NANTWICH
WANDERERS
Referee Dave Bloor gave a hugely controversial penalty, within the last 10
minutes, against the Boot causing them to lose 2 - 1. At a very fair score line
of 1 - 1 the Boot looked like causing an upset by taking a point off 'Top Of
The Table' Nantwich Wanderers. Indeed at times the Boot looked well capable of
winning but the 'Boot and Shoe Gods' were refusing to be kind. The disputed
penalty was as a result of a cross striking defender Gordon Evans (Big Gord) on
the arm. Absolutely no intent and therefore 'no penalty'. Rubbing 'salt in the
wounds' the referee then chose to book 'Big Gord'. All in all an excellent game
in
proper foot balling conditions at Brine Leas. Plenty of sun, no wind and a
dry/flatter pitch caused two very good teams to serve up football of an
excellent standard. The Boot's goal scorer was Mark Charleswort (Charlie) again.
He bundled in a flick-on at the far post. The goal was as an initial result of
youngster Will Robinson (nickname to be found) hurling Exocet long-throws into
the opposition's six yard box. a disappointing end to this game but let's put
it right against 'high-fliers' Bentley in the last game of the season, on 20
April 07. The Boot & Shoe are sponsors of Boot and Shoe Villa F. C.
