Cardiff  (Back to A-Z)

The Armless Dragon   - a taxi ride away from the centre of Cardiff.  Very different cuisine.  We were very impressed with all the local produce used in his dishes.  Presentation was excellent and everything, albeit new to me,  taste wise,  was exceptional.  The restaurant just lacked a little bit of atmosphere.

Le Monde - Oh my god, how much would I love this restaurant to be in Cheshire.  I can only liken the experience to a trendy, yet non pretentious New York loft restaurant.  They specialise in exotic and freshly caught local fish.  You choose your fish from the chilled ice display, they weigh it (and they charge you accordingly) and then it is cooked in a central low level kitchen.  It is fascinating to watch the chef's at work, I was so pre-occupied with the surroundings, I think I forgot to talk to Nigel! (sorry hun).   The wine list is impressive and extensive....I was spoilt for choice.  A very busy, well run establishment.  We went during the week and it was very busy, so I would suggest you book a table rather than just turn up.   I would definitely make a beeline to this restaurant if in the area.  You won't be disappointed.  Simply brilliant!

The Hilton International  - Cardiff.   Superb staff, very helpful when needing taxi's/directions.  Our room was lovely and spacious.  We ate in the 'bar' restaurant and couldn't believe the quality and quantity of the meals.  The glass lift always took us past the gym, which appeared to be well kitted out and well used.  The fact that the gym was busy was a good enough reason not to use it!!  Excellent location and the valet parking was much appreciated.

Yard Bar & Kitchen - situated in the old brewery quarter on St. Mary Street.  A younger clientele, very very busy.  They don't let stag parties in, yet seemed happy to let the girly hens in - how terribly dare they!  We didn't eat here, but the kitchen was very busy and the menu was impressive.   Very dark inside and very noisy, even mid week, I would hate to see what it is like at weekends.
