All reviews are for the current year (2007) unless otherwise stated.  Don't take any of them too seriously, tis just a bit of fun.  I will be adding to it constantly, so watch this space.

Barcelona

We got a great deal with Easy Jet for a short break to Barcelona.  The Hotel Majestic was a beautiful hotel, with plush rooms and public areas.  They have a roof terrace with a pool and champagne bar, with panoramic views of the city.  It's location is perfect for exploring the city.  Our room was beautiful, although we didn't get a room with a view, but that didn't matter as the sweets provided in our room made up for it in my mind!  We didn't eat in the restaurants, but did have room service.  Huge portions and a very tasty cheesy ham roll thingymumbob made a welcome post drinking snack! (So perhaps not a true review)

Ateneu - uugghh, the worst meal of my life!  Our starter of fishcake balls in batter, were batter, minus the fishcake!   Nige had inedible veal in some kind of sauce and I had, like Nige, inedible chicken breasts.  Our vegetables were like water sponges.  All in all a very unpleasant experience.   We left our meals, but we did drink the champagne.  The service was impolite and unprofessional.  Wild horses could not drag me back here...ever!

Not a review, because we couldn't get in!  Cal Pep was highly recommended and was frequented by the locals and local restaurateurs.  It was heaving both times we tried to get in, so perhaps next time we go back to Barcelona we will be lucky enough to get in and sample their 'apparently fabulous' tapas.

Bar de las Hades - go to the end of Las Ramblas (facing the sea) you will see a green kiosk, turn left down here, you will see the gated wax works museum in front of you, hang a right, go in the first door and be a little impressed or dumbfounded - the choice is yours!#

Just a simple bar with an Australian theme -  Hogan's on Les Ramblas, was full of Brits & Irish & Aussies - we met loads of people in here and although not a plush pub by any means, it was friendly and had a great clientele.
